The Beginning

Socially Savvy started as MilitaryJobTransition.com fueled by a passion to help Veterans and their families transitioning out of service and into the connected economy.

Our work with the military community continues with many Veterans and their dependents making successful transitions and securing employment.

“Socially Savvy played a key role in my military transition. Mark Hewitt listened to my interests, understood my goals, shared his network, and made the right introductions that led to a great job at a leading company."  - Chris Maack, Captain, U.S. Army | Transitioning Veteran

"Mark helped guide me towards my 'Social Moment.' My first job after graduate school and the military was a Business Development role in Defense that required significant international travel. When looking for a new role in tech that allowed me to spend more time with my wife and kids, Mark turned the relationship key that led me to my current role which I greatly enjoy at Quickbase." - Neil Forbes, Captain, U.S. Army | Veteran

Our Corporate & Academic Story

The initial mission led to broader outreach through LinkedIn, the development of corporate relationships, and Socially Savvy was born. We work with leading enterprise and SMB organizations such as InterSystems, EQengineered, and Cantina Consulting.

Our affiliation with the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) encouraged us to develop a curriculum. This evolved to become the basis for our academic professional development program and student employability and professional skills supplemental curriculum.

In 2015, we focused our academic efforts on Career & Technical Education (CTE) and were invited to host a roundtable at the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) Best Practices & Innovations Conference. Socially Savvy has continued to take part in regional and state CTE, business education, and parochial school events. Our most recent speaking engagement was in December 2019 at the ACTE CareerTech VISION Conference at which we spoke to CTE leaders about, “Employability and Soft Skills for the 21st Century.” Prior to VISION, our program was featured in Techniques Magazine in the September 2019 issue.

In 2020, Socially Savvy delivered our first community college program at Mass Bay Community College in Massachusetts. We worked with academic and career center personnel to influence internship and employment outcomes for students.

Our Membership Organization Story

At a corporate networking event in 2016, we were introduced to the Boston Chapter President of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA). This discussion led to an introduction to the leadership of the NFBPA in Washington, DC and delivery of professional development training workshops at the Alexandria, Virginia chapter, South Florida chapter, and the annual 2018 national event.

In 2019 and 2020, our membership organization work expanded to state bar associations with the delivery of continuing legal education (CLE) training for the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) and the VA CLE, the educational arm of the Virginia Law Foundation.

Our Government Story

In 2018, and in keeping with our passion to support transitioning Veterans, Socially Savvy collaborated with Deloitte, Hire Heroes, and Syracuse University to develop a pilot transition course for the U.S. Army’s NCO Center of Excellence Sergeants Major Academy Course in Fort Bliss, Texas.

In the fall of 2019, we expanded into new sectors including city and state government continuing professional education (CPE). We delivered a training to the Missouri City, TX city leadership team and a speech at the Leadership NOW Symposium. We have also been pre-qualified as a partner for Academic Services and Workforce Readiness in New York City.

The Story Continues...

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Socially Savvy added an outplacement solution to both assists employees to successfully negotiate unplanned career transitions armed with a modern job search skill set and helps companies provide essential support services when layoffs or furloughs occur.

We continue to learn new ways to provide blended and distance learning experiences that resonate with our customers. We have evolved our solutions to include online, live webinar, and in-person interactive delivery.

Our online course has received praise for its depth and quality, and we continue to evolve our solutions to remain current with the change occurring across the social media and the business communication landscape.
